What bacteriostatic water is
Bacteriostatic water is sterile water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol, which inhibits bacterial growth. This allows a vial to be accessed more than once during a research project.
Gentle handling
When adding liquid to a lyophilized peptide, direct it slowly down the inside wall of the vial rather than onto the powder. Swirl gently instead of shaking, since vigorous agitation can damage peptide structure.
Label and store
Record the date and concentration on the vial, then refrigerate the solution. Our products are sold strictly for in-vitro laboratory research and are not for human or animal use.
Every lot comes with a COA
Independent HPLC chromatograms and mass spectrometry from Prism Labs, Canada's independent peptide testing lab. Match your vial's lot number to its certificate.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between sterile and bacteriostatic water?
Bacteriostatic water contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol to inhibit bacterial growth, so the vial can be used more than once. Sterile water has no preservative.
Should I shake a vial to dissolve a peptide?
No. Swirl gently. Shaking can damage the peptide.
For in-vitro laboratory research only. Not for human or animal use. Not approved by Health Canada for human consumption.
